Refinishing Cabin Sole

I noticed an article in Practical Sailing about refinishing cabin soles.  A picture in the article showed a cabin sole that looked exactly like the one in our boats.  It's not something I want to start this time of year considering how long varnish takes to cure.  However, I might give it a go after haulout.

A Practical Approach to Cabin Sole Finish

BTW, years ago I made two very fine cuts in the cabin sole on each side of the mast step extending the openning forward.  I now have a small separate piece of cabin sole that fits directly in front of the mast.  This allows the removal of the cabin sole while the mast is stepped.

I did the same thing Gerry works great.
